Call for Interest

12th January 2010

UNITAID, working primarily through collaborative actions with strategic partners, provides funding for the procurement of medicines, diagnostics and related commodities. Funding is awarded based on project proposals approved by the UNITAID Board.

The Proposal Review Committee (PRC) is an independent, impartial team of technical experts tasked with providing technical assistance to UNITAID on the review of proposals and related projects submitted to UNITAID for funding. Specifically, the PRC advises UNITAID on:

  • the review of Proposals submitted to UNITAID for funding, taking into account the criteria and indicators established by the UNITAID Board;
  • recommendations for funding of Proposals made by the Board; and
  • interim and/or mid-term review of Proposal implementation.

For more information on the responsibilities of PRC members, please refer to the PRC member Terms of Reference. PRC Core members are initially appointed for a renewable three-year term of service. Members receive an honorarium for their services as well as travel expenses and per diem in accordance with WHO procedures.

The PRC meets on an as-needed basis, either face-to-face or by teleconference. Fluency in English is required as this is the working language of the PRC.

UNITAID follows a transparent, criteria-based selection process that seeks to achieve a significant proportion of members from each of the WHO regions, representation from the public and private sectors and civil society. A balanced gender representation is also sought.

In order to apply, please refer to the Expertise Criteria document, then download and complete the Application Form. An up to date CV is required, which must contain certain essential elements as described in the Guidance on Essential Materials document.

Completed application forms and CVs should be sent to Saara Reid and arrive no later than Monday, 15 February 2010.

For more information, please refer to the announcement on UNITAID's website.
