What We Do

ForoLAC provides regional partners with a collaborative platform to meet, exchange experiences, and analyze common barriers, fostering collective action. By working together, the group seeks out and implements technical solutions specifically tailored to the unique challenges of the region.

Regional and International Collective Action

We promote effective collaboration between institutions and the exchange of best practices within the region and at an international level.

Knowledge Management and Data

We centralize and strengthen access to the latest contraceptive technologies and global trends in quality, equity, affordability, and choice. Produce and share key data to improve decision-making in SRH supplies access.

Provide Technical Assistance

We support member organizations in the region to develop and implement innovative solutions to LAC’s most pressing issues on SRH supplies access.

Our Focus

ForoLAC is currently the only regional forum exclusively dedicated to advancing access to SRH supplies—including contraception, maternal health, safe abortion, and menstrual health products. By working simultaneously at the regional, national, and subnational levels and engaging stakeholders across sectors, ForoLAC drives systemic change while expanding access to essential supplies. ForoLAC strengthens institutions responsible for procurement and supply chain management while enabling frontline organizations to respond to urgent SRH needs.

Rapid Assessment of Bottlenecks Inhibiting the Scale-up of Post-pregnancy Family Planning (PPFP)

ForoLAC, UNFPA LACRO, FP2030, PAHO, and Profamilia Colombia joined forces to produce seven reports assessing the bottlenecks that persist in Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic to scale up immediate post-pregnancy family planning. A regional report was also produced eliciting commonalities and differences among countries.

These materials were produced in coordination with national Ministries of Health and are aimed at providing feasible high-impact solutions to significantly improve access to PPFP in each country.

Contraceptive Safety Indicators

Twelve fact sheets (one for each country) were developed in 2019 by ForoLAC, in partnership with USAID’s GHSC-PSM, with relevant data on contraceptive security indicators created by the Deliver project in 2009, as a technical tool for decision-makers to assess the country’s progress on contraceptives access.

Countries assessed: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Peru.

Data for decision making

ForoLAC has consistently led the way in driving Data for Decision-Making for countries across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). By championing evidence-based strategies, ForoLAC has spearheaded two pivotal initiatives:

SEPREMI

SEPREMI is a regional platform supporting SRH procurement planning, financing advocacy, stock monitoring, and supply chain assessment, enabling governments to make data-driven decisions across procurement, distribution, and broader SRH supply chain management.

ObservAS

Powered by Colmena Consultoras, with ForoLAC support, ObservAS is Mexico’s first observatory on safe abortion services and supplies, generating data and analysis to strengthen service quality and supply availability.
